The number one thing people like to ask me about is my last name: FREEZE!  It’s a fun way to break the ice. Since 32 degrees is the freezing point of water – the connection to my name and this blog is obvious.  It started with me coming up with 32 points that I wanted to make about how weather parallels life.  It’s grown from there, far beyond 32 points — but the name stays the same!

Measuring the weather is how we come up with a forecast! From a simple glance outside the window to gauge cloud coverage or pure blue skies, to setting up a sundial, putting together a wind sock for identifying wind direction and estimating speed, erecting a rain gauge to size up the liquid content in a storm.  This blog is a collection of experiments to measure the weather outside your front door!

When I went to work for WABC-TV in New York I received emails all the time about pets in various kinds of weather elements– from dogs in raincoats to cats watching thunderstorms… These photos became the idea behind “Big Dog Sunday,” followed by “Super Cat Saturday!”  I ran these segments every weekend for half a decade, it remains one of the top things New Yorkers talk to me about when I meet them for the first time! 

Over the years – from turtles to fish to dogs, pets have completed our family.  Here is where I share the stories of “Clicko” and “Goldie,” and a growing list of Sunny Tales.

A little science and a lot of imagination can go a long way.  Meet Wendy Breeze, the alter ego of iWeatherWoman.  A combination of Dora the Explorer and Wonder Woman – her story is a scientific adventure that has not yet found its fairytale ending. iWeatherWoman’s concept is under development. Freezin' for a Reason

Cold plunges into the ocean on New Years Day take on a new meaning when it’s raising money for the Special Olympics.  Over the past quarter of a century I have run marathons, scaled mountain peaks with cancer patients, climbed skyscrapers in firefighter’s gear, stayed up all night, and much more for good reasons!  One thing I’ve learned is that we are all fighting battles — and waging the war is easier when you have a friend on your side!  Stepping up for charities is an honor and I’ve found some of life’s greatest rewards in community service. These are a few of those stories.
